Eleven Years

Eleven years. To some it seems like a long time, to me it seems like just yesterday. Just yesterday that my world was turned upside down. Just yesterday that I lost my Dad. I'll admit the pain has eased with time but I still miss him. I miss his hug, I miss his smell, I miss the way his tongue would touch his bottom teeth when he laughed. I miss the sparkle in his eye, the way he would tease me, the sound of his voice. What I wouldn't give to get that all back! I wish he was here to know my husband and my sons. They bring me great joy and I know he would be so proud. I'm grateful that I no longer carry the anger that I once had. I'm thankful that from a horrible situation I was able to become a pretty decent adult. I'll forever honor his memory. I love you Dad.

Fall Fun

A couple of weeks ago we went to Gardner Village to partake in the Fall Festivities. We first visited the little petting zoo they have which I was a little concerned about because Tyler is terrified of animals. He did great! He touched a lamb, goat, rode a pony- these are major steps for him! Trevor was a little wary at first but warmed up to the animals after a while. For those of you with little kids and living in the SL Valley I highly recommend this. It's $2 per person and you can spend all the time you want (plus they have HUGE bottles of handsanitizer!!). Pony rides are $3 per person. From there we went and stood in line for an hour and a half to ride in a horse drawn carriage with a witch. Ummm, it was cold and the line was long and Trevor doesn't do so well when he has to stay in one place for long. Let's leave it at that. If you can get there when the line isn't long I do recommend this too- it is also $2 per person. The witch we rode with was really cute with our boys and let us take a picture with her at the end. We also got goodies at the Naborhood Bakery and walked around and looked at the cute Witches on display. I wanted to stop at the candy store for a free sample of fudge but it was too crowded and someone was cranky (no names will be named here but it wasn't me!). There are some adorable places set up to take pictures of your kids. Too bad I didn't have them in costume that day....

Disclaimer

OK so I've decided to give this blogging thing a try. There are several blogs that I read every day and lots of people that I try to keep up-to-date on the happenings of the Newman Clan but sometimes I just can't keep up with the emails and phone calls so.... I'm rolling out the Newman News. Bear with me while I learn the ins and outs of the blogging world.

Double the Surgery- Double the Fun!

Tyler had his one retained ear tube removed and Trevor had bilateral ear tubes placed this morning at Alta View Hospital. Boy was it fun! I got Trevor checked in at 7 a.m. and Brad checked Tyler in at 7:10. They shared a pre-op room and Brad and I had fun watching the pre-op Versed take effect. Trevor would make a hilarious drunk! All was fine until Trevor came out from his surgery. They put babies under anesthesia and then take them back out so fast that their little bodies just don't know what to make of it. He spent a good 20-30 minutes screaming like I have never heard and thrashing around with strength like a super-hero. I don't think he even recognized us! Brad had to hold him because he was just too strong for me. When Tyler came out it was a whole different story. He was asleep in a little crib- opened his eyes, looked and me and asked when they were going to take his ear tubes out. He was asleep again before I could tell him they were already done. He woke up without any trouble and loved that they would give him all the cookies, crackers and juice he wanted! I'm glad it's over with and hope to never have to do a double surgery day again!
